And then she turns EIGHT

It's hard to believe that it's been 8 years, it's hard to imagine a time when she wasn't here. But my baby is now eight. She had a nice family birthday party and got lots of stuff she didn't need.

This year seemed so hard to find the perfect present for her. What do you buy an 8 year old girl. She's getting to the point where most toys are too young for her, yet most things are still too old for her. We spent the entire day in Springfield going from store to store looking for her birthday presents. Her brother found lots of stuff that he wanted, yet didn't get... This year seemed especially hard on him. He didn't think his sissy needed anything for her birthday, yet he needed lots of stuff for her birthday.

My babies are getting older and I dread the day that the first boy comes to the front door, or when I have to take her to get her driver's license. Seems like a long time away, but if the next 8 years goes like the last 8 years, I will go to sleep tonight and wake up with a teenage girl. But at least for a little while longer I still have my lil red headed princess.

Santa came to town!

The kids were happy to see Mr. and Mrs. Clause.

Christmas came early

Grandpa scored some points in November. He called and wanted us to bring the kids out. I knew he had been looking for it, but didn't know he'd found one....

Introducing Sugar!

The kids LOVE her. She's almost as wide as she is tall, but she is excellent for the kids. She is absolutly broke to death and timmy even fell off once, but he got up shook it off and was back on top of her in a flash!

The Birthday Boy

Here are some pictures from Timmy's party. He really loved all his gifts.

And his favorite of all!

A RED RYDER BB GUN! Now he thinks he's a Real Hunter. He was so cute with it.

He and Daddy went out to the farm to shoot it, however.....he fell asleep when they got there, so since he'd had a big day daddy came home and told him they'd go shoot another day. He was sad but luckily no fits were thrown!

Been a while

I haven't posted much lately. I didn't even realize it's been as long as it has.

Well today my lil man turned the big 05! I keep telling people he's officially a hand full. HE HE! We had his birthday party over the weekend and he kept telling me, " Just tell people when they ask that I am 5 now." He has been so excited to turn 5. Last night he told me that he was 5 now not like those other lil kids in class. Um honey they will all be 5 this coming year as well. BUT can't tell him a thing.

This morning I showered him with hugs and kisses and he was loving it and hating it at the same time. He want's to be so grown up but so little at the same time.

We have had a busy fall. Seems like just yesterday it was 90 degree's and we were wearing shorts, now it's in the 30's to the 50's and we have had our first measurable snow. On the 30th no less urrrrrr. So time will tell if we have 30 snow falls this winter, I will be hating winter before it's over, course I usually do anyway.

Elizabeth has her Miss Merry Christmas pageant this weekend. She is so excited. She can't wait, she's been practicing her walk and wave. I hope she does well. She is always so disappointed that she doesn't get one of the big trophies. I think that's the only reason she does it, for the trophy...

Elizabeth has also been questioning Santa. She told me one night that none of the other kids in her class believe in Santa. She asked me If I believed. I said Yes I do. I said do you? She said yes, hesitantly. I told her only kids that believe in Santa receive presents from him. She said well if you believe Why didn't you get a present from Santa last year? I said because I am a mommy and Santa only gives presents to kids. (Quick huh?) So I think she still believes, but I think we are coming to the end...

Lebanon Makes Newsweek

Seems as though my little spot in the world has made it to a Newsweek Story.

http://www.newsweek.com/id/154899/page/1

The story is about Obama and the reporter was following him. This reporter has ruffeled plenty of feathers in my little town. Obama made a stop off in Springfield, Mo and then was headed to Rolla, Mo. He made an "unscheduled" stop off in Lebanon and stopped at a lil restaurant called Bell Restaurant. Well this "unscheduled" stop off is definatly not the first place I would have stopped. The diner is old, run down and has LOTS of jokes about it. But that's where the bus came to a halt. Suprising to me were the number of patrons at the restaurant that day. There is never many patrons sitting around, but on this day the building was packed when Obama got off the bus.

Now a reporter has written a story about Obama and included some of the people that he talked with in our fair town. She described them as church looking, no teeth and unemployed people. The people that he has been accused of not caring for. Hmmmm wonder why she would describe these people like this. Basically because that's some of the people that were there that particular day.

Lebanon is a good town for the most part. We have all varieties of people here. We have welfare, unemployed all the way up to millionaires living here. We for the most part are a very friendly bunch of people and we don't have violent crimes. So I guess what my post here today is about is that people shouldn't get their feathers too ruffled by a reporter from Newsweek that doesn't have a clue what Lebanon is about or what our people are about. We know that Lebanon is more than what was portrayed in the article and we know that when the dust settles Lebanon will still be the same as it was prior to Mr. Obama hitting our streets. We have a Lot to be proud of and we all know that the "unscheduled" stop was a planned stop off. And as far as Ms. Messued's words are concerned, well just turn the page and remember that we have a great town here full of people that make this town just what it is.

Math Drills.

Elizabeth started 2nd grade this year. Who knew 2nd grade would be so intense. There is homework every night so far. Not hard stuff just reading, spelling and math. Which is plenty. So this week they started math drills. They are working on memorizing simple math pharses. 1+1, 2+1, 3+1 you get the gist. Every day they have a drill. They have to be able to do 25 answers in 1 minute. Simple enough. So last night we were working on the drill. I was reading the question and she was answering as fast as she could. Timmy had been in the shower and comes thru in the middle of our quizzing. I said what's 4+1 and before Elizabeth could even think timmy rattles off 5! And kept on walking towards his room. I said how'd you know that. So I then asked timmy what's 6+1. 7 he says happily. WOW how does my 4 year old know how to add.....I don't know. But he just kept beltin them out. So I guess I will have 2 smarty pant kids, not that it makes me unhappy. I really wished that Timmy would have been accepted into the school pre-school. He was too smart however. Oh well. Just 1 short year and he'll be in K and they won't know what to do with him.
